Dashain is the most important festival in Nepal - a time for family, food, and celebration!
It celebrates the victory of good over evil!
The whole country shuts down for about 2 weeks so everyone can celebrate!
Dashain usually falls in September or October!
It lasts for 15 days, but the most important days are the first and last!
Families start traveling to their hometowns weeks before!

• Play cards: It's a tradition to play " Teen Paat " card game!
• Eat special food: Goat curry, rice pudding, and lots of sweets!

• Receive Tika: Elders put sacred rice on your forehead!
During Dashain, elders put "Tika" on younger family members!
Tika is a mix of rice, yogurt, and a red powder called "sindoor"!
It represents blessings for good luck and long life!
Kids also get "Eidi" - money gifts from elders!
Eidi is money that elders give to kids during Dashain!
It's like a gift and a blessing combined!
