How marriages work in Nepal!
In the old days, many Nepali marriages were arranged by families!
Today, many couples choose their own partners, but families still play a big role!
• Janti: The groom's family visits the bride's home with gifts
• Mehndi: Henna ceremony for the bride - beautiful patterns on hands!
• Sagai: Engagement ceremony - ring exchange!
• Decorations: The venue gets decorated with flowers and lights!
Mandap: A special altar is set up with flowers
Pheras: The bride and groom walk around the mandap together
Sindoor: The groom puts red powder on the bride's hair part
Mangal Sutra: The groom gives the bride a sacred necklace
• The bride wears a red or traditional wedding dress with lots of jewelry!
• The groom often wears a dark suit or traditional clothes!
• Weddings can last 3-5 days in some communities!
